March 27, 2017
Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Roy A. Allen, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 24, 2017.

Allen, age 24, of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to three years Probation on condition that he complete 100 hours of community service, pay a total of $1,995.00 restitution to the U.S. Postal Service, and $162.00 in court fines and fees.

He pled guilty on January 17, 2017, to third degree Conspiracy to Commit Forgery.

In February of 2016 the defendant drove his co-defendant to the Branchville, Lafayette and Augusta Post Offices where the co-defendant then cashed forged money orders.  While at the Hamburg Post Office, again attempting to cash a forged money order, the Hamburg Police arrived and Allen drove away.  New Jersey State Troopers also assisted in the multi-jurisdiction investigation.

Allen was represented by Nathan Hewette-Guyton, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner.
