Press Release - Sentencing of Victor Ortega

April 24, 2017
     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Victor Ortega, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 21, 2017.

     Ortega, age 22 of Bronx, New York, was sentenced to one year of probation.  He was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service work, make restitution of $20.00, and pay fines and fees totaling $155.00.

     He pled guilty on March 6, 2017, to Theft, a third degree crime.

     The defendant took two bikes from a bike rack of a vehicle parked in the Appalachian Hotel garage in Vernon on June 6, 2015.

     Ortega was represented by Steven Insley, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
