Press Release - Plea of Shane Barretto

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 5, 2017, by Shane Barretto.
     Barretto, age 38 of Sussex, pled guilty to False Reports to Law Enforcement, a fourth degree crime.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for July 21, 2017.
     On January 1, 2017, the defendant called 9-1-1 to report an assault on him in Sussex.  In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted that he made up the story.
     The case was investigated by Trooper K. Colquhoun of the New Jersey State Police.
     Barretto was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
