Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Joseph Gibney, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on August 25, 2017.
Gibney, age 33 of Hopatcong, was sentenced to three years of probation with two days of jail credit. If compliant, he may seek early release after two years. He was ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made, attend AA/NA meetings twice a week, complete 150 hours of community service work, submit a DNA sample at his own expense, and pay fines and fees totaling $375.00.
He pled guilty on June 19, 2017, to Conspiracy and to two counts of Forgery, all third degree crimes.
The defendant acted in concert with two other individuals to forge checks and actually cash two stolen checks in Hopatcong.
Gibney was represented by Robert Klingenburg Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
