Press Release - Sentencing of David Haurey

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of David Haurey, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 17, 2017.
     Haurey, age 52, of Ogdensburg, was sentenced to four years Probation on condition that he continue treatment, complete 100 hours community service, pay $2374.20 restitution to the victim and $410 in court fines and fees. 
     He pled guilty on September 25, 2017, to Forgery and Identity Theft, both crimes of the third degree and fourth degree Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. 
     Earlier this year the defendant used checks belonging to the victim to make personal purchases and pay bills.  He also used the victim’s credit card to make multiple purchases for himself and used the victims identifying information to obtain benefits of his own.  All of the crimes were committed without the Sparta Township victim’s consent or knowledge.
     Haurey was represented by David Nufrio, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Jerome P. Neidhardt.
