     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Angelo I. West, who appeared before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on February 27, 2020.

 

     West, age 21, of Newark, was sentenced to four years in the New Jersey State Prison with credit for 511 days already served.  He must also submit a DNA sample and pay $155.00 in court fines and fees.

 

     He pled guilty on April 22, 2019, to Receiving Stolen Property, a crime of the third degree. 

 

     The defendant was driving a vehicle in Sparta Township that he knew was stolen earlier that day.  When Sparta Police conducted a random license plate inquiry and attempted to pull West over he led police   on a pursuit, which was eventually terminated.  The vehicle was found abandoned in Newark.

 

     West was represented by Daniel Palazzo, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
