Press Release - Plea of Gabriella Colon

April 4, 2022

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty to plea to an accusation before the Honorable Michael E. Hubner, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Virtual Courtroom on March 22, 2022 by Gabriella Colon.

     Colon, age 20, of Vernon, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault, a crime of the fourth degree, and sentencing is presently scheduled for May 12, 2022 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. 

     Colon also pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated, a motor vehicle offense, and was ordered to serve 12 hours in the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center and pay $414.00 in motor vehicle fines and fees. Her driving privileges were ordered suspended until an ignition interlock device is installed and for three months thereafter. 

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to driving her vehicle in an unsafe manner while under the influence in Vernon Township on November 5, 2021. She also admitted to purposely attempting to cause bodily injury to a Vernon Township police officer while that officer was exhibiting evidence of their authority.

     Defendant was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier.
