Press Release - Plea of Daniel M. Szluka

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 13, 2022 by Daniel M. Szluka.
Szluka, age 47, of Branchville, pled guilty to Attempted Sexual Assault, a crime of the second degree. Sentencing is presently scheduled for August 5, 2022 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C.
The defendant attempted to have the victim, who was younger than sixteen years of age but older than thirteen, engage in sexual penetration at his direction during text conversations.
Szluka was represented by Andrew Delaney, Esq. and Anthony Iacullo, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
