Press Release - Plea of Jan Borowy

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to two accusations before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Virtual Courtroom in Newton on May 17, 2022 by Jan Borowy.
Borowy, age 35, of Port Jervis, NY, pled guilty to Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Heroin, Shoplifting, and Conspiracy to Commit Shoplifting, all crimes of the third degree. Sentencing is presently scheduled for June 8, 2022 before the Honorable Robert M. Hanna, J.S.C.
The defendant admitted that during a motor vehicle stop in Hamburg in June 2021, he was in possession of stolen tools and wax folds containing Heroin residue. He also admitted that between May – July, 2021 he shoplifted power tools from the Newton Home Depot, and conspired with a codefendant to commit shoplifting.
Borowy was represented by Matthew Young, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner.
