Press Release - Plea of Jeffrey L. Simmons

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 16, 2022 by Jeffrey L. Simmons.
Simmons, age 46, of Canton, Ohio, pled guilty to Theft and Failure to Pay Taxes, crimes of the third degree. Sentencing is presently scheduled for October 20, 2022 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking funds to construct a new Frankford Fire Department building and failed to do so. He also admitted to failing to pay taxes.
Simmons was represented by Anthony Palumbo, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
