Press Release - Sentencing of Crystal L. Candelario

     Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart announced the sentencing of Crystal L. Candelario who appeared before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Virtual Sussex County Courtroom in Newton on July 7, 2022. 

     Candelario, age 31, of Scranton, PA was sentenced to two years non-custodial probation that will be transferred to Pennsylvania, with 34 days jail time served. In addition to the standard conditions of probation, she must also complete 50 hours of community service, undergo both TASC and Mental Health Evaluations at the discretion of probation and follow all recommendations, submit compliance with Vivitrol program to probation, submit a DNA sample, and pay $135.00 in fines/fees.

     She pled guilty on May 19, 2022, to Theft, a crime of the third degree.

     The defendant admitted to taking more than $500 but less than $75,000 worth of products from the ShopRite in Montague with no intent to pay for them. 

     Candelario was represented by Matthew Young, Esq. and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
