Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on August 15, 2019, by Madison Westerkamp.
Westerkamp, age 20 of Newton, pled guilty to Theft, a third degree crime, and to Theft and Hindering Apprehension, both disorderly persons offenses. Sentencing is presently anticipated for October 4, 2019.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking cash from Weis Market in Newton on September 4, 2018, and to taking property from another on May 31, 2019, in Frankford Township and then provided false information to police officers during the investigation.
The cases were investigated by Ptl. J. Flanagan of the Newton Police Department and Tpr. C. McGrath of the New Jersey State Police.
Westerkamp was represented by David Dumbroff, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
