Press Release - Sentencing of Madison Westerkamp

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Madison Westerkamp, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 4, 2019.
Westerkamp, age 20 of Newton, was terminated from a prior term of PTI and sentenced to two years of probation with the possibility of early termination after 18 months if fully compliant. She was ordered to complete all conditions of PTI including 50 hours of community service work and to pay restitution totaling $1,041.00 and fines and fees totaling $205.00.
She pled guilty on August 15, 2019, to Theft, a third degree crime, and to Theft and Hindering Apprehension, both disorderly persons offenses.
The defendant took cash from Weis Market in Newton on September 4, 2018, and took property from another on May 31, 2019, in Frankford Township and then provided false information to police officers during the investigation.
Westerkamp was represented by David Dumbroff, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent Rafuse.
