Press Release - Sentencing of Algernon Lee

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Algernon Lee, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 25, 2019.
     Lee, age 50 of Newark, was sentenced to 93 days of time served and two years of probation.  He was ordered to pay restitution of $990.80 and fines and fees totaling $280.00.
     He pled guilty on September 24, 2019, to two counts of Shoplifting, both third degree crimes, and one count of fourth degree Shoplifting. 
     On June 27, 2019, the defendant took merchandise from the Byram Shop Rite and the Sparta Stop and Shop without making payment.  On July 25, 2019, the defendant attempted to take merchandise from the Byram Shop Rite. 
     Lee was represented by Vincent Scoca, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Sahil Kabse.
