Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of guilty pleas on October 31, 2019, by Manuel Oliveira before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton.
Oliveira, age 35 of Andover, pled guilty to an Accusation charging Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a second degree crime, and to an Indictment charging Burglary, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for December 13, 2019.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to unlawfully being in possession of a handgun on October 18, 2018, and to entering the secured area of a residence during the month of September 2017 and stealing items. Both incidents occurred in Byram Township.
The cases were investigated by Detective R. Tierney of the Byram Township Police Department.
Oliveira was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
