     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of James Alston, who appeared before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 8, 2020.

 

     James Alston, age 51, of Newton, was sentenced to an eighteen (18) month term of incarceration. Alston was given 219 days jail credit.  A previously suspended sentenced of three (3) years incarceration was also revoked and imposed to run concurrent with the eighteen (18) months.  

 

     He pled guilty on August 24, 2020, to one count of Violation of Community Supervision for Life (a Fourth Degree Crime).

 

     Defendant was represented by Erik Hassing, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro.
