Press Release - Plea of Steven R. Kristiansen

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Michael E. Hubner, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on December 11, 2020, by Steven R. Kristiansen.

     Kristiansen, age 51 of Byram, pled guilty to three counts of Burglary, a third degree crime, Escape, a third degree crime, and a violation of probation.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for January 20, 2021.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to entering structures in Lafayette, Wantage and Sparta between May 6, 2020, and May 9, 2020, without the owners’ permission and to removing property of the owners from each, that he violated his house arrest status between May 6 and May 12, 2020 and that he violated his probation.

     The cases were investigated by Tpr. G. Familia-Herrera, Tpr. S. Songui and Detective L. Jacinto of the New Jersey State Police and Det. B. Hassloch of the Sparta Township Police Department with the assistance of Byram Township Detective R. Tierney.

     Kristiansen was represented by Shaun Russell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
