The Sussex County Prosecutor's Office prosecutes many different types of crime. If you are the victim of a crime, the Office of Victim Witness Advocacy will contact you regarding the status of the case as it proceeds through the criminal justice system. There are staff members available to answer your questions and assist you with a wide variety of services.
Some of the common types of crimes that the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office handles include: assault (both simple and aggravated), property crimes, sexual assault, financial crimes, and child abuse. Victims of all crime types will be contacted by a Victim Advocate regarding their case.
As the victim of any type of crime, you will have the opportunity to complete a Victim Impact Form to relay your thoughts and feelings to the Assistant Prosecutor assigned to your case. You will also be able to detail your losses and ask for restitution for any out-of-pocket expenses you have incurred.
