Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley Jr., J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 13, 2020 by Ronald Johnstone.
Johnstone, age 51, of Sussex, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Resisting Arrest, both crimes of the third degree, and motor vehicle violations Driving While Suspended and Driving While Under the Influence. Sentencing is presently scheduled for February 21, 2020.
The defendant admitted to being under the influence and in possession of a controlled dangerous substance during a motor vehicle stop in Franklin Borough. He also admitted that on a separate occasion State Police signaled him to pull over for a motor vehicle infraction and he continued driving, ignoring the Troopers signal. When he finally did stop and was arrested he continued to resist the Troopers.
Johnstone was represented by Bruce Farrier, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
