Caregiver Time Out: A Social, Education and Discussion Group for Caregivers
(Newton, NJ) The Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Services recognizes the need to support caregivers within the community during the COVID-19 public health crisis. The Division of Senior Services has partnered with the United Way Caregiver Coalition, on a short term basis, to provide caregivers a platform to meet virtually in this stressful time of social distancing and isolation. Participants will have an opportunity to talk, learn and connect virtually in the absence of the regularly scheduled face-to-face facilitated caregiver support group meetings held at the Division of Senior Services.
Caregiver Time Out is a social, education and discussion group, with the goal of sharing information and companionship and giving caregivers a well-deserved time out. The first session of this virtual social group will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with additional sessions being scheduled on an as needed basis. To register, please call Robin Ennis, Manager, at the United Way Caregiver Coalition at 973-993-1160, ext. 305.
Caregiver Time Out is not a support group. If an individual feels they may benefit from more support, they will be directed to contact the Aging Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) in their respective county. The ADRC helps seniors, individuals with disabilities and their caregivers find out how to access important federal, state and local services and supports. For additional information, please contact the Sussex County Division of Senior Services at 973-579-0555, ext.1221 or seniorservices@sussex.nj.us.
