Press Release - Plea of Francis Velasco

PRESS RELEASE

April 20, 2020

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., via the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 28, 2020 by Francis Velasco.

     Velasco, age 43 of Hardyston, pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice, a disorderly persons offense. Sentencing is presently anticipated for Thursday May 28, 2020.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to not truthfully answering questions on a firearms application submitted to the Hardyston Police Department in October of 2019.

     The case was investigated by Detective William Varcadipane of the Hardyston Township Police Department.
Velasco was represented by Daniel Agatino, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
