Press Release - Plea of Michael Johnson

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 1, 2020 by Michael Johnson.

     Johnson, age 30, of Brooklyn, NY, pled guilty to Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit Theft, both fourth degree crimes.  Sentencing is presently scheduled for July 9, 2020.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted that on December 22, 2019, he took merchandise from a pharmacy in Byram Township with the purpose to deprive the owner thereof.  He also admitted to conspiring to commit the theft with two other individuals. 

     The case was investigated by Sergeant Brian Moreland and Patrolman Kevin Perry of the Byram Township Police Department.

     Johnson was represented by Bruce C. Farrier, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier, Esq.
