Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Michael Johnson, who appeared before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on July 9, 2020.
Johnson, age 30, of Brooklyn, NY, was sentenced to two years probation with 2 days jail credit. Conditions of probation are that Johnson must give truthful testimony against any co-defendant, if requested. He must undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, maintain employment or continue his education, and pay all fines and fees.
He pled guilty on June 1, 2020, to Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft, both fourth degree crimes. The defendant took merchandise from a pharmacy in Byram Township with the purpose of depriving the owner thereof. He also admitted conspiring with two other individuals to commit the theft.
Johnson was represented by Bruce C. Farrier, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier, Esq.
